Who am I talking to?
I often use the terms “higher self” “guides” and “egoic mind” when I describe how I receive or “see” information so I thought it would be helpful to define these. This article provides a good explanation for each, but I copied the end bullet points for a quick reference. I will do further posts to discuss these concepts in more detail.
The Higher Self
Sounds like you but uses different verbiage.
Pops up at any time, especially during mundane tasks.
Uses “we” and “you” instead of “I”
Loving, supportive, wise, and encouraging.
Spirit Guides
Spirit guides have their own personalities, identities, and appearances.
They are very easy to communicate with once you start working with them!
Your guides will come through generally only if you call upon them.
Also always loving and encouraging
The Ego (or as I say, “egoic-mind”)
The ego is the voice that says “I can’t”
Negative words, discouraging advice, and playing it safe are all identifiers of the ego.
Interrupts during higher spiritual guidance. The ego needs to be reigned in or it will pop through all of the time!
Who are MY guides?
In a Shamanic journey session that I had with Melanie on 11/11/2019, she picked up on Archangel Jophiel around me. She described that I have “a very strong archangel with me, with yellow around her” and described her as Archangel Jophiel, who is connected with femininity and women’s and maternal issues. She is connected to me for a mothering / managing the feminine sort of aspect. With further research, I learned that connecting with Jophiel can help you see your thoughts, emotions, and circumstances more clearly by using the yellow light from her flaming Sword of Wisdom as a source of illumination. Tuning into Jophiel’s energy helps to bring serenity to our minds and inspire creative ways to help us balance the good and the bad. She helps to balance negative and positive emotions by helping to see the beauty in all things as well as the beautiful nature of our spiritual lessons. She is often depicted holding a flaming sword, the “Sword of Wisdom.” Some of these depictions show Jophiel with the Flaming Sword of Wisdom guarding the Tree of Life. This flaming sword is a symbol for Jophiel’s ability to cut through the illusions of your thoughts by illuminating the true nature of your spiritual self. Its yellow light from the flame illuminates the reality of your situation. In other words, Jophiel wields her sword to battle ignorance caused by misunderstanding. You can call out to Jophiel if you need help understanding a complex situation, personal dynamic, or philosophical concept you are facing in your life. Here’s a picture I found online of Jophiel:
The other guide that I only recently learned the name of is Orlo. Orlo provides me with a scientific knowing and gives me information particularly around the dynamics of time and space, frequency and vibrations, and the notion of different realms and dimensions. When I think of him, I picture Nicola Tesla. This probably explains my deep connection and fascination with all things numbers, especially sequential or repetitive numbers, geometric shapes and sacred geometry, the Fibonacci Sequence, the cosmos and all things that are sort of “out there.” I even got a tattoo of a mandala 5 or 6 years ago because I was obsessed with them at the time!
